Our philosophy of care
We believe that a collaborative and all-inclusive approach, based on your individual needs, provides better and longer-lasting treatment outcomes. This includes the use of varied treatment modalities such as inpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programs and office-based treatments. We take pride in building a professional relationship with you and meeting your needs.
What’s the difference between a psychiatrist and a psychologist?
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor and licensed to write prescriptions. Many mental disorders can be treated effectively with medication, such as anxiety, depression, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or bipolar disorder. When your psychiatrist determines that you may need a combination of medication and psychotherapy or counseling, your psychiatrist may provide the psychotherapy or may refer you to a counselor or other type of mental health professional.
A psychologist often works in association with a psychiatrist or other medical doctor who provides medical treatment for mental illness, while the psychologist provides the psychotherapy. Licensed mental health counselors and clinical social workers may also play a role in behavioral medicine teams.
