Vandalia Health thanks Governor Morrisey for investing in healthcare recruitment
Vandalia Health along with other West Virginia hospitals faces provider shortages in a variety of clinical areas. These deficits make it difficult for patients in medically underserved areas to receive the care they need.
That’s why Vandalia Health enthusiastically supports the Mountain State Care Force Recruitment and Relocation efforts as part of the West Virginia Department of Health’s Rural Health Transformation Program.
“Thank you to Governor Patrick Morrisey for continuing to address West Virginia’s challenges of providing healthcare in medically underserved areas,” said Jeff Sandene, President and CEO of Vandalia Health. “As one the largest healthcare providers in the state, we intimately know the importance of and the obstacles to providing high-quality healthcare in rural settings.”
Vandalia Health continuously invests in provider recruitment, workforce development, clinical education partnerships and training opportunities that strengthen the healthcare pipeline in both rural and underserved communities.

The Vandalia Health Institute for Academic Medicine provides education, outreach and research support to student physicians and other medical professionals hosting more than 1,000 students daily in programs leading to degrees or certifications in health professions. Currently, about a third of program graduates establish practice or continue their training in West Virginia.
The Mountain State Care Force will enhance Vandalia Health’s existing efforts to further attract and retain licensed healthcare providers in critical roles to meet West Virginia’s rural healthcare needs.
