Heroes of Healthcare: Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children's Hospital
Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children's Hospital experienced what is sometimes referred to as a stork drop adoption.
A stork drop adoption occurs when a birth mother chooses adoption when the baby is born or right before they’re born.
From registration to nurses in the labor and delivery unit, staff from various departments helped care for the baby.
Employees met and bonded with the birth mother and baby providing support and encouragement to both.
Registration provided immediate and crucial support to the birth mom who was alone on admission, labor and delivery provided guidance and nurturing to the birth mom and baby while other staff stepped up in providing special care.
