Kerry Simpson works in the Laboratory at Vandalia Health Mon Preston Memorial Hospital.
One evening, the lab had an infant patient that needed a heal stick procedure, but the staff was unsuccessful.
They decided to call Simpson to ask her for help with the collection.
Simpson had requested the day off to prepare for her wedding happening just a few days later.
However, out of the kindness of her heart and the compassion she shows patients on a daily basis, she reported to work to assist her coworkers with the collection and help the patient receive the best possible care.
Simpson regularly steps in to help team members and creates a calm, stable workplace while building trusting relationships directly with patients and their families.
