Heroes of Healthcare: Jessica Wheeler
When a police officer passed away recently in Vandalia Health CAMC General Hospital’s emergency room, the family requested of keepsake.
Staff consulted Jessica Wheeler with the Center for Organ Recovery and Education.
When Wheeler heard what the family was asking, she quickly headed to the hospital. Within a few minutes she walked in with a box with fingerprint clay cast that is designed to be placed in a flower garden once it hardens and dries. Wheeler had purchased the kit for her mother for Mother's Day.
The family was so thankful for the gift and for Wheeler's thoughtfulness. It gave them something to carry to help remember their loved one as they left the hospital on the worst day of their lives.
