Heroes of Healthcare: Dale Dawson
Dale Dawson is the nurse manager for 3 West, Vandalia Health CAMC Memorial Hospital.
During the Heart of the Holidays program, Dawson voluntarily stepped in to ensure that participants not only received their gifts but were able to get them home safely and with dignity. Recognizing that transportation can be a barrier for some families, he selflessly offered to deliver gifts directly to participants.
Dawson made numerous trips over several days and even transported larger items such as appliances and furniture to ensure families could fully benefit from the support provided. His willingness to take initiative without being asked reflects a strong sense of ownership and dedication to helping others. In one particularly meaningful act, Dawson went even further by filling a participant’s car with gas, removing an additional burden and ensuring they could get home without worry.
This level of thoughtfulness and care demonstrates not just a single act of kindness, but a pattern of behavior rooted in empathy and service.
Dawson’s actions created a ripple effect and his compassion and commitment inspired those around him and reinforced the true spirit of the Heart of the Holidays program. He embodies the values of reliability, initiative and excellence, consistently stepping up where and when he is needed most.
