Heroes of Healthcare: Angie Wickline
Angie Wickline works in Outpatient Registration at Davis Medical Center.
A patient had an order for bloodwork and for a stool sample faxed in by her health care provider at the Mon General Gynecological Oncology office in Morgantown. It was late in the day and when Wickline checked, the order had not yet been received in her area.
Realizing the patient needed to get her blood drawn, Wickline called the Mon General Gynecological Oncology office to confirm the order had been submitted. Once she confirmed the order had been faxed, she checked another location in the hospital to track down the order. She had that office send the order to her so that the patient could have her blood drawn before the end of the day. Wickline also confirmed the order for the stool sample had been received so the patient could take it home and bring it back the next morning.
Wickline told the family she was scheduled to work the next day so if there were any issues, she would take care of them.
Wickline made the appointment process easier and took responsibility for the care of the patient with respect and compassion.
