Heroes of Healthcare: Alisha Holstein
Alisha Holstein works in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit at Vandalia Health CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital.
Holstein is a nurse educator and is an exceptional nurse day in and day out.
One morning, on her way into work, Holstein saw a woman on the side of the road lying down with another woman looking over top of her. She didn't hesitate to stop and see if they needed help.
The woman was 37 weeks pregnant and in active labor while waiting on EMS. Holstein stayed with the female until EMS arrived reassuring her that everything was going to be okay.
When EMS arrived, they asked Holstein if she could ride to the hospital with them because they had never delivered a baby and she is a previous labor and delivery nurse.
Without hesitation, she jumped in the ambulance and left her car behind to ensure safe transit to the hospital.
